In-house testing has determined that the roller is much more sensitive when evaluating anti-wear and friction additive concentrations in these types of fluids. New controlled loading system for Falex Four Ball EP Tired of lifting weights to get to the weld point when running Falex Four Ball EP test? Then Falex has the answer! Falex now offers a controlled loading device for the application of test loads. A controlled feedback load control system will apply the test load with only the input of the desired test load. This new system provides for effortless performance of the ASTM D2596 and D2783 when applying test loads. Drive systems Falex is now offering newly designed drive systems for it's test equipment featuring servo control motors. These new systems allow for greater start-up torques with the ability to provide reciprocation motion without mechanical adaption. Through the use of micro process control, reversing motion is effected through the motor offering speeds up to 500 cpm and angles greater than 360 degrees. Maximum angle is dependent on rotation speed selected. Fuel lubricity The Ball-on-Three Disk (BOTD) test device for evaluating the lubricity of diesel fuels, with and without additives, has been submitted to ASTM for a cooperative test program to complete the standardization of this test method. This test device is being used successfully to evaluate lubricity and anti-wear properties of diesel fuels used throughout North America and is now being introduced in other parts of the world. Clutch system testing Falex is now manufacturing and marketing the Falex Face Clutch Test System. This powerful test machine is designed to evaluate the performance of clutch faces under a variety of test conditions simulating real life applications.

Announcements: Les Heerdt, President of Falex Corporation, was presented with the prestigious "Award of Merit," for his many years of service dedicated to method and specification development and leadership of Subcommittee L on Industrial Lubricants. Mr. Heerdt has been active in ASTM since 1968 and Chairman of Subcommittee L since 1989. Mike Anderson, Vice President Marketing, was presented with the Walter D. Hodson Award by the Chicago Section of STLE. This award was established in 1982 to honor section members who have given outstanding personal service to the section over an extended period of time. Mike was Chicago Section Chairman in 1991 and is currently STLE Midwest Regional Vice President. Rita Mickle, Marketing Manager, has
just completed 25 years of service. She started her career with Falex as
Secretary/Receptionist. She has since held positions as Office Manager,
Business Manager and currently, Marketing Manager. Rita has been an active
member of the Chicago Section STLE since 1991 and is currently serving as
Vice Chairman.
