(SUGAR GROVE, Ill)–Falex Corporation in Sugar Grove, IL, a premier supplier of high quality petroleum and tribology testing equipment, is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Peterson to the position of president. Peterson comes to Falex from Compass Instruments, a reseller of Falex products, where he served as the Midwest sales representative.
“Tom brings a lifetime of industry experience and exceptional skill in new business development to the Falex Corporation,” said Andy Faville, outgoing president. “He is versed in ASTM, SAE and other standards and knows what the customer needs and wants. His expertise will augment our new product development to ultimately strengthen our market position.”
As president, Peterson will oversee four departments at Falex: engineering, production, laboratory and accounting. He will also be involved with international sales.
Peterson has a lifetime of experience in tribology including a successful, rich background in sales, marketing and production. He first started with Falex as a teenager, working in shipping and receiving. As a student at Aurora University, he originally studied business but switched to mechanical engineering as he went on to hold positions in assembly, laboratory and inside sales at Falex.
When he was 27, he left Falex and accepted a position at ISL North America in Midwest sales. He remained there for eight years before making a move to AO Smith Products to accept an engineering position. Two years later, he returned to sales at Autometer Products as manager of data acquisition products. He also worked in the marketing division for ConocoPhillips before joining PAC in 2004 as the director of Midwest sales.
In 2007, he was approached to help launch Compass Instruments, a single-source provider for materials, lubricants and fuel testing equipment, with Falex as its flagship brand. Through his efforts in sales, the company grew from representing two product brands (Falex and Waukesha Engine) to their current line of nine industry leading brands today.
